The large-scale restoration on May 11 netted more than 35,000 pounds of accumulated debris.
Environmental Responsibility
I have been a strong supporter of the environment and have actively worked on projects to improve not only the preservation of our natural resources but also their restoration. Through My Tech Guys, I have been able to contribute significantly to the current Kus-kus-sum project by Project Watershed.
Our drinking water is directly tied to our environment. As chair of the Water Committee for 4 years, I was immediately challenged with a 47-day Boil Water Notice forcing us to move forward with a Water Filtration Project. Safe drinking water is very serious and I’ve worked closely with all stakeholders including Island Health and K’ómoks First Nation to come up with a plan to move forward. I have travelled to Victoria and Ottawa to make sure we are considered first for grant funding.
As your Mayor, I will continue to keep the big picture in mind and remember that our natural environment is arguably the Comox Valley’s biggest asset.
