This past weekend we held a public Meet & Greet at Simms Millennium Park, with locally made bannock and some biltong Michelle prepared. Our goa; with this event was to confirm for the residents of Courtenay that their Mayor is accessible and approachable, with a constant attitude of professionalism, respect, and remaining reasonable. Union Bay Unofficial Referendum Results

The unofficial Referendum result for the following question: Are you in favour of dissolving the Union Bay Improvement District and converting to Comox Valley Regional District local service areas?
418 – yes, 159 – no. Out of a total of 557 votes, 72% are in favour.
Once the Declaration has been filed by the the Returning Officer the official results will be posted online.

Fifth Street Bridge AAP Complete: Borrowing to Proceed for Upgrades

The unofficial results are in for the Fifth Street Bridge Rehabilitation Alternative Approval Process (AAP). 52 elector response forms were received by the November 16, 2020 deadline. The number of eligible Courtenay electors was 20,162. As fewer than 10 percent of eligible electors registered their opposition, the City of Courtenay may proceed with borrowing $3.4 million to rehabilitate the bridge next year.
