Waste Management: Talking Trash with Rob Nichol

After a recent meeting with Andrew Weaver, I had a chat with my fellow CVRD Director, Rod Nichol, about waste management and how the Comox Valley will be looking to deal with this issue in the future.

After a recent meeting with Andrew Weaver, I had a chat with my fellow CVRD Director, Rod Nichol – Chair of the Solid Waste Advanced Technology Committee, about waste management and how the Comox Valley will be looking to deal with this issue in the future.  We had met with Andrew earlier this year to ask him to help change language limitations that have curtailed innovation in Solid Waste Management. To our absolute pleasure that language has been changed, which allows us to move forward on Advanced Recycling to reduce Methane and other greenhouse gasses while creating clean fuel to that can be sold to replace dirty fuel.

On top of this, we are also able to reduce the amount of garbage going into the landfill by creating an Organics program and educating the public on proper recycling.  You can read the Waste Composition Report here with the main points on the first page.

Have a look at the short video below to see what Rod had to say.
