A fire hall would :
- Improve response time for Fire Departments to arrive on scene
- Improve the building code for houses constructed in East Courtenay
-
Reduce the cost of home insurance
I am very proud of the world class Fire Fighting Training Centre that was built in East Courtenay, and although a Fire Hall was planned for, other priorities such as flooding made it difficult to make it happen. This would be a project requiring significant investment public ascent. I would engage the public to ensure this is a project the community supports in principle and economically.

My wife and I would like to put an additional window in our house. The City Planning Department has told us we cannot have permission to do so as we live more than 10 minutes from a fire hall. As soon as the City puts in a fire hall in East Courtenay, we can have a window.
We live close to the new hospital, and I find it inconceivable that there was no provision for construction of a local fire hall when the hospital was built.
What is your position on the construction of a new fire hall in East Courtenay?
Hi Gary,
I believe Bob has emailed you directly about this question. His focus right now is to get it onto the strategic priorities for the next term to be completed ASAP, keeping in mind that this is an increase in service and may result in higher costs for Fire Protection.
Thanks for the question and feel free to contact Bob anytime if you want to chat.
